Essential Information To Know Before Visiting Lakshadweep
Lakshadweep, a beautiful archipelago in the Arabian Sea, offers only two mode of transports, by air and sea. For air travel, individuals can board a flight from Kochi, Kerala, destined for Agatti Island – the sole airport in Lakshadweep. Reaching lakshadweep by air is considered as the most convenient way.
Alternatively, those seeking a more leisurely journey can opt for passenger ships sailing regularly from Kochi. This maritime adventure not only provides an alternative mode of transportation but also allows travellers to relish the scenic beauty of the sea throughout the voyage.
The accessibility options ensure that every traveller can choose the mode that suits their preferences, setting the stage for an unforgettable adventure in this captivating archipelago.
Lakshadweep experiences a tropical climate, characterized by hot and humid weather for most of the year. The islands have two main seasons:
The dry season, which spans from October to April, is widely regarded as the best time to visit Lakshadweep. The months of December to March are particularly popular, as the sea is at its calmest, making it perfect for underwater exploration and beach relaxation.
The monsoon season occurs from May to September which brings lush greenery and a refreshing change to the landscape, it also brings heavy rainfall and rough seas, which can limit outdoor activities and water sports.
However, for those interested in experiencing the islands during the off-peak season, the monsoon months offer a unique opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the region in a more tranquil setting.
Lakshadweep provides reliable internet connectivity with widespread coverage from prominent telecommunication networks like BSNL and Airtel. BSNL extends its services to all 10 inhabited islands, while Airtel is accessible in Kavaratti and Agatti. The recent introduction of Airtel's 4G network aims to enhance the overall user experience.
Earlier in January, the Indian government launched a project to bolster Lakshadweep's communication infrastructure significantly. This initiative leverages the Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) system, ensuring high-speed broadband with internet speed of up to 200 Gbps. The strategic enhancement of telecom networks underlines the commitment to providing residents and visitors alike with seamless connectivity across the enchanting archipelago, fostering better communication and accessibility in Lakshadweep.
